Tuesday 9th March 1841 – A little frosty, wind from N.N.W. pleasant breeze – at 11 AM thick, & mild weather, wind a strong breeze fm N.E. Martin Bryan’s brig Maid of the Valley launched this day, in tolerable style Afternoon thick, foggy, & mild weather – Wind from N.E. blowing strong bearing an indication of the approach of the northern ice – Evening wind N.E. wind still blowing strong & weather thick.
