Saturday 12th Aug 1837 – Strong breeze from N.N.E. – Thick raw cold weather with small rain – afternoon wind as before stated, weather fine & dry – J.B.G.& Co. Brig Beaver Wright; with her cargo of coal to St. John’s – Messrs Clancy & Co. Schooner good intent, but recently launched at Heart’s Content proceeded for Carbonear Thos. Robbins master; with  Mr. Pickment, his daughter Miss Bemister & Miss Taylor passengers shipping fish from the Sally, onboard the “Wm Kelson” – Evening wind still at N.N.E. fine dry & clear.
