Friday 27th March 1846 – Gloomy, damp, raw – cold and calm – Thermometer at 32º or freezing point keel laid, & stem & stern of new boat raised yesterday at 11am wind breezed up from east cloudy & warm. Afternoon – wind south & warm – Evening cloudy gloomy, & damp – wind east.
